There's  actually 3 or 4 farmers in the walhalla area that is on that list for subsidies money which had to do with the ethanol plant and corn. One of the farmers who did well off of President Bush's farm bill bought lake cabins in Devils Lake and in Metigoshe, as well as a winter home in Arizona. Instead of selling the property out right to pay for seed and insurance for the 2016 crop, they decide to bet against the farm. Walhalla had the worst hail storms in twenty years and the farmers who I am talking about didn't pay for crop insurance which they lost. The title of the auction was a retirement estate auction 5 generations of this family farmed this land. Now a new set of hands will get a chance to provide a income as well as a lifestyle at generation number 1.I look at these farmers who still have the old farm trucks, 2 or 3 year old combines, and still putting in crops, just to keep the lights on knowing full well they will persevere through this cycle of bad prices on crops because they realized that only thing that is important to them is family, a farming legacy, and God.</blockquote>
