Message: <blockquote data-quote="KDM" data-source="post: 71457" data-attributes="member: 314"><p>Assuming the dock has cleats, I use a double overhand knot and put the loop under the cleat and then one side of the loop over each end of the cleat and yank tight.  For poles I just feed the line through the loop made from the double overhand knot and then over the top of the pole.  I put about 4-6 bumper buoys between the dock and boat as well.  Never had one slip off a cleat or pole no matter how rough it got.  If I need to tie up for longer than overnight, I put the boat back on the trailer and tarp it.</p></blockquote><p></p>
