Carp freaking love sweets. They're how I learned to back reel when I was a kid. UL UglyStick, GARCIA/Mitchell 308 and a full spool of 8lb brown Royal Bonnell II. Used to make my own (EXTREMELY durable) doughbait out of oatmeal, syrup and cornmeal. I'd make a teardrop around a snelled #4 Eagle Claw leaving the point exposed. At the first tap; I'd bring it home and game on. Always tried to avoid weight and the "casting plug" bait would easily fly across the river with this rig. I remember there was a "boys network" around town of where the carp were rolling. They're great for a no-pressure afternoon to teach a kid advanced fighting techniques and subtle presentation. "No pressure" is relative as the bastards can become as fickle as trout imprinted on pre-emergers. Anyways; they love sweets, provide ample soil nutrients and maintain silky coats on varmints: Yes, I've eaten much of my carp bait. It tastes like horse feed. Yes, I've tried molasses horse feed just like you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2qHbEriQ6A - - - Updated - - - I didn't mean you specifically Davy. I meant in the broad ND sense.
