When shooting both at grass or deer they give me the same yardage. On snow the Sig is more accurate. Evidently the laser covers more than the coyote at ------ don't remember the yardage of the coyote that day, but it was out around 1000 yards. So the reading was coyote mixed with snow. [QUOTE="PrairieGhost, post: 234686, member: 704"] I have never looked through a model 1400 Sig. I had a 2000 and now a 2200. Neither have a black display, and brightness changes with ambient light conditions. I would get 1700 to 1900 yards on grassy hillsides. On farm buildings I have ranged them as far as 3400 yards. Deer?? I shoot long range and I suppose I am getting the deer and surrounding grass or brush. I have ranged deer at 1600 yards and ranged and shot to 1150 yards. Last year I shot five coyotes along one hillside over a period of a week. I ranged and shot those coyotes from 962 yards to 1127 yards. That was on snow and it's tough to get good yardages on snow. IR light will not pass through glass or only a short distance. I think the problem with snow is the light is partially absorbed and partially reflected. I also have a Swarovski that will do 1999 yards. Last year I missed a coyote using the Swarovski. I later in the day ranged a rock and the Swarovski said 1100 yards and the Sig said 1160 yards. I dialed my scope for 1100 yards and shot low, and wind drifted right. I dialed for 1160 yards, and another 1/2 minute of angle left and hit the rock.
