I was able to get my tag that year for half price ($10). That was good for 14-16 year olds. Not sure when the youth season and guaranteed tag started. I’ve never been a fan of it personally. Hunting deer with the adults was a rite of passage. I feel like the kids that get their first deer on a level playing field are going to be the ones that stick with it for life. Might be a bad comparison but I wouldn’t let a kid drive a sports car for their first year with a driver’s license.</p><p></p><p>I am going to help a few girls with their first tags this year. The harvest won’t be the priority. Sharing stories of their great grandpa and grandpa are high on the list. They were a big part of my start in hunting.</p></blockquote><p></p>
