Message: <blockquote data-quote="PrairieGhost" data-source="post: 206294" data-attributes="member: 704"><p>When I was a kid our farm was on the Sheyenne River.  We drove four miles on the river where it was deeper and had seven springs coming to the river in about 400 yards.  We always stopped short on the upriver side of the springs.  We had to chop a hole with an axe in those days so one hole each was it.  One day this neighbor shows up with his fancy new spoon auger.  He drives up close to the spring walks even closer and dug a hole.  He starts hollering back the ice depth, but never finished because it gave way and he went in.  The springs all had sort of a delta so the water was only about two feet deep, but he stood there screaming as if he was dying.  We had to drag him out before he had a coronary.</p></blockquote><p></p>
