Mozambique Rock/Surf

Fished the south coast of Mozambique between Ponta Do Ouro and Maputo. Hours driving down washed out sand tracks and flooded jungle roads to get to Mamoli Beach Camp.

Target species were giant rays, sharks, giant guitarfish, and snapper species

Bean Ray

Honeycomb Rays...The biggest ray was approx 250lbs and 10 feet from nose to tail

Why do you fish almost everything at night?

because most of our target species are more active at night, and the water is crystal clear, we all know how tough day time fishing is in clear water.

You mentioned fishing for Bronze Whaler. Caught one near Cape Town. No fight. Came in like dragging a large barn door.

I've spent alot of time fishing for Tigers, and they are hands down the most difficult fish to keep on a hook...10 X worse than tarpon or gar. I would say our lure catch ratio was maybe 10% of the ones you hook you actually land. Catch rate was maybe 20% with a circle hook and bait. I've had the best luck with hair jigs/bucktail Jigs. Probably the fastest and hardest fighting freshwater fish ive ever caught.
