I get it now. Sorry. No I didn't know those names. Guessing every word of Leach and Zeiman's stories were true because it was wild around Frankfurt when we were actually there. The first 365 days I was there we spent 280 in the field. I was stationed at a little shithole called Camp Eschborn about 15 minutes up the autobahn from Rhein Main. It was basically the fenced off area of the barracks area of an old nazi airfield. Eschborn held an entire mechanized combat engineer battalion, all of our equipment and vehicles and you had to run around it almost three times for the 2 mile part of our PT test. It was a little slice of heaven we dealt with by drinking a LOT. I visited Rhein-Main once as a civilian in the early 90s. Looked pretty “spartan” to me. I had no idea how lean military facilities were. Not exactly posh amenities.
