But how does one get them home and processed without getting their stink on you or your gear?

I cut their throats on the ice and let them bleed out, then I use an electric fillet knife to remove the meat. The fish carcass goes into a pail or bucket whichever you fancy, I like the kitty litter square ones with the lid that can be folded up on one side. No more slime

I wish I could say this technique works for me, because it doesn't.
