It may be Trump's turn. He doesn't care about our aging infrastructure or Climate Change.

Is the Army Corps of Engineers in charge of this damn?? If so, its definitely not their fault, no way anyone saw this coming. Nothing to worry about though.........

On February 11, 2017 Lake Oroville flowed over the emergency spillway for the first time since the dam's construction in 1968.[SUP] [/SUP]Because the spillway is a separate structure from the dam, there wasn't any real danger of the main embankment being breached. The dam's structure itself continued holding and no damage was found, and the possible evacuation of Oroville itself was not being considered as there was no threat to public safety.

Tell you one thing if I lived below that thing I would be packing up. With the spillway coming apart and the lake full they have little chance to get ahead of a forecast that looks like this. And this is in inches of water not snow! The lake has crested for now but it's pucker time for the engineers.

BREAKING: Evacuation orders for low levels of Oroville #OROVILLEDAM#orovillespillwayhttps://t.co/ApDCYN8iuq

From the krcrtv.com site:

OROVILLE, Calif. - An immediate evacuation from the low levels of Oroville and areas downstream is ordered.

A hazardous situation has developed with the Oroville Dam auxiliary spillway. Officials say that operation of the auxiliary spillway has lead to severe erosion that could lead to a failure of the structure.

Failure of the auxiliary spillway structure will result in an uncontrolled release of flood waters from Lake Oroville.

In response to this developing situation, DWR is increasing water releases to 100,000 cubic feet per second. Immediate evacuation from the low levels of Oroville and areas downstream has been ordered.

And yet still and no one is fucking covering it other then the weather channel and they sound like blithering idiots because they have no idea what you're talking about and keep saying stupid shit like calling it an earthen dam and using gallons when they are talking cubic feet!

DWR Statement seconds ago - Based on information received from the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the incident command team managing Lake Oroville, counties and cities near Lake Oroville and the surrounding area issued evacuation orders for residents. The concern is that erosion at the head of the auxiliary spillway threatens to undermine the concrete weir and allow large, uncontrolled releases of water from Lake Oroville. Those potential flows could exceed the capacity of downstream channels. To avert more erosion at the top of the auxiliary spillway, DWR doubled the flow down its main spillway from 55,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 100,000 cfs. The next several hours will be crucial in determining whether the concrete structure at the head of the auxiliary spillway remains intact and prevents larger, uncontrolled flows. Current flows are contained with downstream channels. Flow over the auxiliary spillway weir began Saturday morning and has slowed considerably. DWR officials expect that flow to stop entirely soon, which will reduce the erosion on the downstream side of the structure. /u/BCPSS

Looks like they might be able to get out in front of it. Only have a couple inches going over now and the erosion is progressing slower then first thought.

yeah that's what some are saying. What damage will the 100,000 CFS do to the spillway? What happens starting wednesday when they start getting a bunch of rain again?

If it holds tonight and the levels drop, they aren't out of the woods yet.
