Socialism isn’t possible. I will not give away my labor for a stranger. I will not perform for someone else to be rewarded.
we as a nation are already to far left.
Success is earned, not taken

Socialists, Communists, Fascists, and the ilk aren't even socialists, communists, or fascists. They want socialism, communism, and fascism to be for everyone else...NOT THEM. Balloon Hair Bernie wants communism for everyone, BUT HIM. If he truly believed in communism or socialism, he would NOT BE A MILLIONAIRE!!! He would have given his wealth to the poor to help them up from poverty. What are the chances HE will give up his wealth to be just like everyone else?? NONE!!! Use fascism and fascist tactics on a fascist and see how they like it. ANTIFA members aren't so mouthy when the PROUD BOYS show up willing to use their own tactics against them. Try taking a socialists 50 inch Plasma TV and giving them a 19 inch black and white because that's what his neighbor has and see how long it takes the socialists to NOT be a socialist. Better yet, take their top of the line phone and give them a flip phone because that is all their neighbors can afford. Communism, Socialism, and Fascism is nothing but large scale THIEVERY and ARMED ROBBERY!! Which is why the 2nd amendment and being armed is so important. An armed population prevents large scale victim-hood and makes thievery and armed robbery extremely problematic. Being armed is the ONLY thing that will keep any of these oppressive systems at bay. So, NO!!! Socialism will not work...now......or ever.

I am very surprised that the Democrats in North Dakota voted so heavily for Bernie. Guess there is more people than I thought in North Dakota that think the Government owes them everything and needs to take care of them at birth until death.

It's all the little snowflakes that voted.

Didn't they also throw the old women out into the cold after they'd inventory the supplies and come to the conclusion there wasn't enough for everyone to make it through the winter?

You're thinking of the movie "A Man Called Horse".

I kind of thought the same but when you look at how few people actually voted in this Primary, I basically chalk it up to some college kids, the Rez, and a few other losers who think socialism is the answer. I don't think the vast majority of Democrats even vote in these things because they know Trump will easily take the state anyways.

what I can't quite grasp is how the natives, blacks, and other groups devastated by social programs slowly become tolerant and even supportive of the very system that devastated them

I can't say that I wouldn't be that way too - I'm not super-human, I just can't quite envision how/why it happens

In a college Sociology class one of my professors had us play a game of Monopoly. Teams were chosen and then certain teams were handicapped. Their paydays were less, their "go to jail" lasted longer, and their housing was more expensive.

This was supposed to be an experiment in learning what it's like to be disadvantaged. We did this for at least 1 week, maybe 2 I can't exactly recall. I can't say it aught me what it's like to be disadvantaged, how would I really know if it had or hadn't? What I will say, is that the professor told us on day 1 that the folks who were on teams that were disadvantaged were much more likely to skip class and that absolutely was true. The disadvantaged teams got visibly pissed-off during the 1st day and the majority of them skipped class until the game was over.

Perhaps folks who grow up disadvantaged (whether real or perceived) just get to a point that they essentially stop participating.

My observation is that people are often ignorant to their options for moving up. I talk to young people that just don't realize what it takes to have a secure future. In some cases they just flat out don't believe that they can achieve it. It can take a lot of determination and digging to uncover opportunities and many people are satisfied with their status quo, don't know where to look or are scared to make a change. I think opportunity abounds for people willing to put in the effort and are willing to make a change.

Very well said! I agree with this 100%!! Their only disadvantage is themselves. This is the land of opportunity. If you want something, go get it! It's all a mindset. We all tell ourselves that we have limitations. But in reality, we don't have as many as we think. If anyone doesn't know who David Goggins is I highly recommend looking at him. Ben Carson too! And it's just not black folks that are seemingly disadvantaged. I would be willing to be that most of us have put limitations on ourselves because of ignorance or fear.

We live in the greatest country to ever exist! And a lot of people covet that! Too many political ploys out there...That's the problem with most of the impoverished areas...IMO

sounds like a poorly engineered experiment

so they stop participating by participating? (voting their abusers back into office to continue the abuse?)

Not where I'd like to be
Here's a dirty little not-so-secret: The Dems don't want you to succeed. They want you to dependent on handouts so that you keep voting for the people who promise the handouts (them).

Most have seen this before but it sure rings true.

A chemistry professor at a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while
the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ‘Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’ The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.

The young man said this was no joke. ‘You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.
When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again.

You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat; you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms — just a little at a time.

It's Sociology, were you expecting some level of precision that scientists like Bunsen and Beaker provide?

Oddly enough, that same strategy worked for even our wildest cows when it came time to liquidate the herd.

lol

wait....

I wish I was pulling your leg, but that last damn cow wasn't even seen until almost 4 months after the majority of the herd went away. She ended up joining a herd of mule deer does. Again, not even kidding. I think it took about 3 weeks of feeding to get her trapped in a corral after the onset of winter.
