All their old enemies died so they had to reset the season with all of their new emerging enemies.

I think a couple of you are both right. He didn't make it home to get help in time as a boy so Beth feels the burden of mom's death. And...he betrayed his father with his political career. If anything Beth is loyal as Fu*^! My wife and I get a kick out of what a nasty badazz she is. My wife actually has a T-shirt that I think says, "Don't make me go Beth Dutton on you!" Not sure where she got it.
