By the grace of God, dedicated rural firefighters and hundreds of farmers and ranchers and their water tanks, tractors and discs. An almost uncontrollable wild fire in these winds was in fact controlled!
What a wonderful job of mass cooperation, makes a person ND proud!
Happened north of Richardton this afternoon caused by a downed powerline.
This was from my friends weather station at his ranch there..uffda

Glad to hear they got the fire contained.
I see shingles laying around all over in my driveway ( Jmst area), not sure how bad it is up there yet.

That's a little more than a walleye chop.

Fire in the dry conditions and a wind like that could be deadly. Hope none of them are started intentionally.

Time to go for a run. “Our hills is wind.”

I brought this on myself.

Remember when there was tree belts and CRP. Very little wind erosion in those years.

If you really hate yourself try a bike ride. I've always told myself the same, that the wind is our version of elevation training. On the bike it actually somewhat works. Running usually doesn't though because the mechanics are so much different when actually ascending/descending. The last couple of days may be an exception as I think you could actually lean into the wind enough to mimic going uphill and would be leaning back far enough to avoid being pushed downwind that it would mimic descending.
