There are so many YouTube videos to watch. After a hr watching them you will know what to do and not do.

Did a lot of tig welding years ago with a really nice Miller unit. I miss it.

Never had a single class. Never joined 2 pieces of metal together without some sort of purposely chosen fastener.

Know what not to do is:

“Don’t start welding your own stuff”.

I can guarantee beyond a shadow of a doubt that I’d be the guy fixing things until they’re broken.

I do envy those with the proper patience and focus.

I have both a stick and wire welder and do enjoy using them. It can be welding up a trailer frame or putting a new cutting edge on a buckets I find joy in doing it.

I purchased a Oxy-acetylene setup about 5 yrs ago. Best investment I think I ever made.

So many uses especially if you have any equipment that your working on.

Can't be stuck if its liquid!

Had Oxy-Ace since going to work at 18Yrs. old, Have a couple of Plasma cutters that work really good

not tig welding, but working on a little project myself. using a millermatic 212 with the aluminum spool gun, not the best welder, but learning as i go. one thing i have figured out is you dont rush if you want to get better. each weld i try to make better then the last one.

currently building window well covers for the place. had them quoted by a local shop and they wanted almost $5000 for 4 of them. I will be in considerable less then that by doing them myself.

Not really, back when I did research, I found myself having to Tig a lot of stainless steel. It was the cat's meow for stainless work.

Get a good welder with a foot controller and have at it after watching a few videos on Youtube.

Mind if I ask what kind of projects you are needing to Tig? I loved Tig welding, but Mig is a better choice for general welding, IMHO.

Definitely a class I wish I would have taken in high school. Would have come in way more handy than Algebra III or whatever class I took instead.

I took the lowest math classes and the most shop orientated classes myself. I figured out how to tune pretty much every welder in out HS shop accept 1 I deemed a lost cause but was doable. Was kind of funny how the class pricks would turn their back and their welder magically started working like sh!t when they were trying to do their final turn in projects. I never had an issue I guess.
Of course I never ended up doing much with my welding but on occasion strike an arc for work now.

Guy in high school when asked what he was going to do for a living said " I am going to be a welder", I thought that was a strange occupation back in the mid 80's. I wonder if he ever became a welder, and if he is still welding.
I never welded, and as a little Minneapolis kid, none of my crew ever took any of them type classes either.
