Well the cable that came off was 3/16 and only 45 ft. So the new rope is 1/4 and 50 feet. I just did a youtube look and it showed guys...

Not sure why you would even cut it if it fits properly on the spool/drum. Over the years many times the rope/chain have been just a foot...
