    You likely won't be fishing IN the current but in slack water or edges of current so use enough weight to keep it in the general area you want it to be. You'll know when your line washes downriver.

    Pocket gophers are a pain. I use a steel probe to poke around the outside of the mounds. It's easy to feel when you find a tunnel. Dig it and put the trap in the tunnel and cover your hole with a board. Usually catch them in an hour or so if you get the right tunnel. I use a couple of traps...
