Buddy and I are up on Winnipeg staying in our tents for 4 or 5 nights.
At 7am saw this big girl on the bottom, got her to come up to check out my bait n chomp! My best ice fishing walleye by far! We both forgot our scales, she was just 30 1/2" long but had an almost 20" girth!
Just a beautiful greenback, will make a cool replica!

Wait.....staying in your TENTS for 4-5 days?!?! Hardcore - sounds like a hell of an adventure! How's the weather? Is the action pretty good?

Thanks!
Winds ripping pretty good right now, released a 24 just a little bit ago.
The big fish fought just like a pike, I was shocked when that big walleye mug popped up the merky hole let me tell ya!

Nice fish, but replicas are expensive and lamo... Better to get some nice pictures to put on your wall IMO.

they can look ok, but they just arent REAL, anyone can buy one, so whats the point? Picture is real, traditional mount is real, replica is just a hunk of plastic that looks like a fish that you could have bought at a rummage sale for $10...

I agree with getting a replica....and then you can still have a picture next to it on the wall.

Do some research and make sure that you pick the right replica company. I have seen some real bad replica mounts.

I have a replica of a 41 lb. lake trout caught in 2003 along with a grayling that still looks amazing. I had my replicas done by Artistic Anglers in Duluth.

The best thing is that big trout and grayling are hopefully still swimming!

That's awesome thats a huge laker! I totally agree!
Tyler Ericksons replicas out of SD are about the best there is in the business right now. There's good reason Mckenzie taxidermy's catalog has like 18 pages of his fresh water fish forms.
And we are fortunate in the Dakotas to have taxidermist like him, Jamie Risovi, John Lind, Steve Silseth and many more national taxidermy champions in such a close area!

But I didn't..😊
I actually think replicas are the only way to go. We always get pics and video, I like watching them swim away.😊👍

You've even got on your "Greenback" colored hoodie. One can barely tell where you end and the fish begins. (grin)

I'm hoping for another morning report , even if you didn't have such good luck , how was it tenting on the ice ? I used to do that with a down filled sleeping bag and it would roast me out .
