Lots of Bull Elk around

Nice bull showed up couple days ago. Hazen or 70 miles northwest of Bismarck. Unit E-5 Had some hunters from this site inquiring earlier but they filled recently. Some local people with once in a lifetime tags also filled. It seems like there are lots of elk around because everyone I know with tags are scoring.

Younger, smaller satellite bulls hang around for months while something like this guy might be here today gone tomorrow.

No cows. Over 20 bulls in 15 years. Young bulls get pushed out during the rut and go on a walk about looking for a harem of their own. Never had a cow show here.

I don't live in elk country but every year more bulls are showing up. Seems the population is going up. A good thing.

They don't bother because I cut the antlers off of my herd bulls. Can't/won't fight through the fence.
