    17 cal vs 22 mag

I think it's a good round. I think the lack of a decent rifle initially hindered its acceptance. As I mentioned earlier, Savage's initial rollout was garbage. Stock had way too much flex. Grouping was terrible.

    17 cal vs 22 mag

My mistake. FIL has one that looks similar...gray family synthetic wood, etc. Nice gun.

    17 cal vs 22 mag

Ruger, I assume? Looks like the one my FIL got after watching me bang dogs with my Savage.

    17 cal vs 22 mag

The thing I like about the .17 rimfires is the accuracy. Once sighted in, you can place the crosshairs on the offending vermin and be relatively certain it is going away if you do your part. You don't always get that with a 22lr.

    17 cal vs 22 mag

I've got 4 17 HMRs and a 17 WSM, all Savage, all accurate. The WSM gives you a little more reach. The Savage BMag (17 WSM) was garbage when it first came out, but not sure if it's improved any. I have a different model with better stock, and like it pretty well. Bypassed getting my boys 22s and...

    Ruger 10/22 Takedown

Who has one? Accurate? As stated in a different thread, I have a Henry AR-7, which is a cool concept but pretty useless in actuality. Also have owned a pair of Rusdi interchangeable barrel rifles (.22, .243, 20 guage). Also, really cool concept -- 3 completely different firearms that can be...

    Collectibles

Have a Henry AR-7, just because I thought the concept was cool...worthless gun, if I'm honest. Bought a couple Russi 3-barrel system (20 guage, .22, .243) years ago for my boys. Really wanted to love them, because it would make a great under-the-pickup-seat gun, but .243 was especially...

    Collectibles

I like guns. Nothing special, just utilitarian firearms. Savage rifles, cheap bullpup or pistol-gripped shotguns, pistols heavy enough to disable an assailant when thrown after they jam, etc. And, ammunition for those guns.

Don't disagree with you. I, too, might stand by simply because I've seen how these things play out.

I, myself, don't mind if they were a little rough with him. Put me on the jury and "hung jury" is the best a prosecutor will do (assuming the theft-stoppers were on trial).
