I know a number of you are from the Bis-Man area, and just wanted to share the great results from the area schools' third state tourney (second for some). All schools were well represented, and we have our first state champion from Legacy HS. So check it out! 1A MR CTL State Tourney Recap...

2315/1021 - Interim Study Committee Makeup

You'll find the interim committee for the aftermath of SB 2315 and HB 1021 (the end-around, last-ditch tack-on by Erbele to get the "study" pertaining to land access and three-county "trial" database) on Pg. 28 of the document below...

    Trap league and the versamax

Second on the Birchwood Casey shellcatcher. I put it on my semi-auto. Flip it up for trap, then back down for skeet or sporting clays. $12.95 or so. HH Guns has them in Bismarck.

Sb 2315 - reborn after house gutting!

Erbele's bill sought "a bridge" for landowners and hunters. Landowners said in testimony they simply want to know who is on their land, while signage can be frustrating. The bill originally proposed a land database similar to GPS hunting apps such as onX. Wrong - the bill originally only...

    New State record

I did an article with Bob Timian (Head Warden) of G&F and Tom Volk (the angler) today, it was good to get both perspectives. The G&F side was concrete that it can't be the record, and it seemed Volk doesn't really want it to be anymore even though he says he can prove the catch was legit, and...

SB 2315 - Sneaky Underhanded BS

HEY! STURGEON! I'm gonna call this my reward for SB 2315 going down (thanks again for all of your work in making that possible!) it was a great vacation, even with last night's "last ditch" efforts. New personal best @ 58" (I'll get to 60" one day)! She was a hoot in the debris-filled...

SB 2315 - Sneaky Underhanded BS

2015 just left the senate with NO SB 2315 wording in it. Thanks to all who responded quickly. Even if it was just a rumor, it shows the strength of sportsmen. I've received 7 emails in response saying either that they'd vote no, or that it was not going to make it into 2015. - - - Updated...

SB 2315 - Sneaky Underhanded BS

The bill just went through the Senate with NO addition. We'll see what the house does, but we've got one to go! Obligatory Sturgeon Pic: My godson with his first!

SB 2315 - Sneaky Underhanded BS

That can't be for a NO vote that goes final in the house... I've received 2 stating this was just a rumor and that 2015 is up for discussion now with no additions, one that stated the rider was 1021.

SB 2315 - Sneaky Underhanded BS

I know this sounds insane, but I just received word (while on vacation) that in the late hours of this likely final day of the session, they are attempting to add SB 2315 to SB 2015 (another unrelated appropriations bill) which will be up for a vote TONIGHT. Anyone who reads this needs to...

Sb 2315 - reborn after house gutting!

Nearly the same vote count as in the first go-round, this was not unexpected. The House is where it will die - Porter has been working hard for sportsmen and lobbying for No votes all week. Stay on your Representatives, tell them to vote no and encourage your friends and fellow citizens to...

Sb 2315 - reborn after house gutting!

Correct. G&F weighed in on the retrieval issue and got it to change. Imagine if they weren't forced to stay neutral by the Governor from the get-go?! This Bill would have died in the Senate in February and we would have never heard the word "database!" It has been left to us to speak out...

Sb 2315 - reborn after house gutting!

Line 21 - "or any other place" is the catchall language they've added on Line 21 in Amdt 1, which covers all real property. I know...sneaky, right? You'd think they'd use "land" or "real property" then reference the 20.1 exception for hunting - but no, they keep it shifty, vague and "gotcha"...

Sb 2315 - reborn after house gutting!

Strangely enough, I was asked to sign a letter regarding SB 2315 (I'm guessing it would have been this one) on Tuesday night as an individual and declined for the following reasons: 1) The restriction of non-hunting access to unposted lands (fishing, hiking, biking, etc.), and loss of access...

Sb 2315 - reborn after house gutting!

If 2315 passes, there is no IF at all - shoreline would be off limits to anglers without express permission (think Devils Lake Coulees in spring). If you want to get into wade fishing and "navigable waterways" like is the case in many states...that might be a different story, but I'm not versed...

Sb 2315 - reborn after house gutting!

JUST GOT WORD THE ND SENATE IS PULLING THE BILL FROM TODAY'S VOTE TO "FIX" THE GAME RETRIEVAL LANGUAGE. (Do you think they're reading the site? LOL...just so you know...they are!) This will most likely delay the vote and allow more people to voice their concerns, I expect it to go to a vote...
