    they aren't too loud - ambient noise i sleep really well with... they do have a catch pan, and all the noise is in the house... you would get all but about 3" of your window back and only a slight noise of exhaust outside of the window...

    the house we are in now has no central air... we went from window units to the roll around portables... we have a couple extras that seem to be out on loan to friends all the time... they work very well and the discharge hose will fit in any slider or single - double hung...
