Antler Growth vs. Age in ND

I sure do chuckle when I read about people telling the age of a deer on the hoof. I have never seen a deer with a birth certificate. I have hunted deer for 46 yrs and still cant tell the age. I can tell if its a muture deer. And age is only a guess unless you cut out the teeth or have a...

shooting fall turkeys from a permanent blind

I agree, we would hunt them North of Killdeer on some of the ranchs there. We would shoot them off the manure piles or feed bunks in the mornings and they were back that afternoon.

There will always be bird in the WPA land but alot of that had cattle or was hayed this yr taking more...

    Anyone seeing any roosters?

Yes the yrs 1997 and 1998 were tough on the birds. Then from 1999 till about 2013 N.D. had more birds then you could shake a stick at. Unless N.D. gets a lot of rain the harvest will be done early and every field will be dug up plus the sloughs. Then there will be lots of birds as then there...

You guys that rent land what does the contract say? I have seen where the renter has control over the land during the growing season. Meaning from crop in to crop out. After that they have no say during the hunting season there for they can't post it. I knew one insident where the renter went...

    Waterfowl Report

Unless they have that much snow down by the border, we wont see them till mid to late Oct. Its still really early in the yr and they dont leave till it freezes up. Plus there is very little hunting pressure to move the birds.
