    looks like the front of the receiver on an ar... if it is, throw it away (or return), and forget about it... high heat changes properties of steel and might make it VERY dangerous, or at least very inaccurate...

    a 617 smith is still my dream gun... know lots of guys that fed their families with a 22lr... hell - i knew guys in mt that used nothing else for deer hunting 20 years ago... seems like a disconnect here - lots of guys still love the lead headed jig, but have lost the love of the 22...
