    SD Road Hunting

The road hunting is a mess in the pheasant rich areas, particularly around paid hunting operations. But when there is no land access that is what you get. Nothing worse than looking over your shoulder the whole time, same feeling I get when I’m hunting unposted land in ND. Just doesn’t feel...

    Boarding ladder oprions?

I agree on the motor option. But would like another. The ransom motor mount ones I just don’t see working with my splash guards. My brother in law has a mesh one permanently attached in a bag that came factory on his Crestliner. Trying to find similar that someone has experience with.

    Boarding ladder oprions?

My Lund has wave wackers that are very necessary. However, I've concluded I need some sort of emergency boarding ladder. Getting in if I fall out alone would be tough. Or if my dad were to fall overboard it would be tough to get him back in too. Any recommendations for a ladder that could be...

Any word on water temps? Trying to figure out when to head up for one last trip. Thinking a month or so.

    Crossbow?? What next.

I haven’t heard a modern one shoot, but 5 years ago I was shocked at how loud they were at the shot. Are they as quiet as a bow now?

    Electronic Posting

So do I. But it isn’t viewed that way by many. The urban society in particular, showing up in the farmyard, aren’t welcomed the same way they were 20 years ago.

    Electronic Posting

Sounds like SD now to me. Interesting to note that we’ve been a no trespassing state forever. But back in the good old days people didn’t care if you hunted. You knew the few to stay away from, but otherwise you had free access. However, the shift in attitudes of landowners and hunters alike...

    U.A.W strike?

Seniority pay is blanket pay. Pay on merit, not how long you’ve been there. Incentivize workers to do better. It’s not a new business concept. I’m guessing even the crappy sweatshops we keep outsourcing to do that. The bigger problem is these companies have the workers and their...

    U.A.W strike?

If you read my earlier post, I believe many of these employees should make way more money than the agreement asked for. And the lesser performing employees need to make less. I don’t believe that you can blanket pay everyone and run a successful business. That’s what I believe is wrong...

    U.A.W strike?

All this will equal is more production moving out of the USA. Simple decision for them when viewing labor costs.

    U.A.W strike?

I am not saying they shouldn’t get a raise. They deserve a fair living. Here’s my take- there are probably tons of workers who should be making $70 an hour or more. Double the agreement. And tons who should make less than the agreement. Blanket pay and benefits isn’t conducive to an...

    U.A.W strike?

The original intent of organized labor has gone away and is now just a front. The companies need to honor past promises, but the demands of the unions aren’t reasonable. I’d hate to work in a place like this where the best and worst employees get the same treatment.

It’s all a forward facing sonar game anymore. If you are old school you are sucking at these big tournaments.

    Ducks in ND 2023

They actually migrate in semis and greyhound busses each night. At least that’s my theory, they appear and disappear yet never fly?

    School Resource Officers

On a good note in the time I taught myself never saw an SRO have to restrain. Generally when they get there the party is over and the kids shape up. But kids are getting more and more belligerent. Sad days.

    ANuS Inspections

WY is similar. They’ll slow the spread far more than the band aid actions ND or SD are doing. Will it matter? Probably not. I have zero issue paying the fees for it if they’re doing a good job with mandatory inspections. Oahe has to have them. No way it doesn’t with Sharpe and Francis Case...

    Yellow Trucking Gone

Yellow went down because they were crazy in debt. In the end they tried to squeeze out of their union contracts to make things work. I have no idea if the unions had outlandish demands, pensions, etc., but I know they did make some concessions to keep things afloat. I am not a union guy but I...

    SMOKE

Yes we’ve been lucky west this year. Past couple have been rough and that was where a lot of our smoke came from those years. This year it’s the canucks.

    SMOKE

Canada is having their worst fire season ever. The fires out west have been records in terms of acres burned per state. Cause? I don’t know, but it’s the new reality. It got really smoky here tonight. Worst I’ve seen this year.
