    Is spring here?

North Dakota "spring" has a way of making you look like an idiot for winterizing the snow blower too soon. That's why I wait until June.

    cabelas bass pro

I was a died-in-the-wool Cabela's dude. Used my Card for dang near everything so I could get points and buy more stuff. Haven't used it in well over a year. I do all my shopping at Scheel's now.

    Spring purge

Part of it is generational, too. Both sets of my grandparents were somewhat horders, thought not in the trashy sense. Both grandpas had, I kid you not, dozens of metal coffee cans FULL of screws, bolts, nuts, washers, etc. Most rusted or greasy or beyond usefulness. Both saved old electric...

    Spring purge

I grew up not wanting to throw ANYTHING. It's a weird thing. I remember as a kid having drawers full of scraps of paper, tiny nubs of pencils, broken crayons, knickknacks, magazine clippings, etc. Bunch of stuff that should have been tossed, but I always figured, "there's still life left, I'll...

    Spring purge

I'm not sure what it is about this time of year, but I get a serious bug to go through my stuff and just throw heaps of things. It's amazing how much stuff someone can accumulate, seemingly without realizing it. And it drives me nuts, because the more things I have, the harder it is to find...

    Spring snows 2021

With the warm forecast and little snow cover, they're going to blow through in a hurry.

New Land Bills: SB 2036, 2037 and 2038

I knock on doors ALL THE TIME. They know to be respectful, polite, and pick up after themselves. I'm not going down the same rabbit hole we've talked about ad nauseum. These bills will forever change hunting and fishing in North Dakota, and are creating a slippery slope that will make things...

New Land Bills: SB 2036, 2037 and 2038

I'm actually considering hunting out of state for the first time for deer because of how shitty ND is getting. How crazy is that? But maybe that's what ND is hoping for. Screw the residents and get squeeze the NR's for all their worth. It's a different time. At least my kids will have a brief...

    dumbest post ever contest

^^^Juanr is getting mighty cooped up to be mucking about 2018 posts and quoting GST. You need to get out ice drinking.

The miracle on ice happened 41 yrs ago today(2-22-80)

If you're a fan of the Miracle on Ice, do yourselves a favor and read "The Boys of Winter" by Wayne Coffee. Basically goes through the entire process -- from how Coach Brooks was picked as the coach, to picking the team, to the grueling workouts, to the games themselves -- and even dives pretty...

Coon galloping/running down the side of the road is my guess for the pattern and spacing.

    Deadstick Fishing in Current

Dump the bobber and get a clicker reel. IMHO, it's the only way to successfully deadstick in current. I've done it two ways with success on the river: Either hang a standard 1/4 oz jig with a lip-hooked minnow and set it at your desired depth, or do what you do in the summer and throw down an...

    Super Bowl 55

I'll admit, I completely forgot the NFL was even a thing. Can't say I miss it.

This guy LOST EVERYTHING (barely survived) broke through the ice.

^^^^Watch the video. He admits what he did was stupid and unsafe and put a whole different perspective on what he does to make videos. Aaron Weibe is the real deal. I don't think you'll find a more honest or genuine fishing "personality" out there.

New Land Bills: SB 2036, 2037 and 2038

I guess on the outside, SB 2036 seems pretty harmless. I mean, this year's trial in SE ND was a joke. It was open to landowner participation, and you can barely find the posted spots online they're so few and far between. But the wording also is pretty broad -- "researching" could mean just...

New Land Bills: SB 2036, 2037 and 2038

I'm not sure what to make of these yet other than what is written, but methinks we best keep a close eye: https://gf.nd.gov/legislation?fbclid=IwAR3txhaNiHPbWDlGRwLWBoE6BJL9LkSbRcGVHcZt6rtF89M5_j5lnbIv1lA (If you don't want to click the link) SB 2036: Legislative management shall continue to...

Technology in the outdoors- where is the line?

I feel there's going to be a line drawn/crossed with advancements in fish finders. I realize that's a broken record, as ever since the invention of the "depth finder" people have been crying foul and lamenting that their fishing waters would soon be fished out. I admit I felt that way a bit...

I love my Wingworks, but I understand getting one nowadays is pretty difficult due to limited manpower/supply.

    Ice Fishing Snaps

^^^ What he said. Use those on most of my rods. If I'm going to run darter-type lures, I use bigger clips like a snap swivel without the swivel. But for a majority of my fishing, speed snaps rock.
