    congrats on the new rig... i just built a box across the front end with a flip up top with the throw cushion out of the boat i sat on, and sat the big buddy on the other side... had room for the big buddy, a battery and converter for 110, and a light load of fishing gear inside... whoever came...

    i had one and it worked really well... easy to move and heat... downside was i had a 8x16 ice castle a the same time that i had first and was used to... it was like going from a camper back into a tent... worked well for fishing for 2 guys and limited equipment...

    iirc, there are 2 sizes of the 2 plastic mounts... make sure to measure b4 you go shopping... i had them on 2 toons and never had an issue as you don't need them as tight as on round tubes... just be sure to use nylon nuts...

    we vacation in the reno - tahoe area, and snowshoeing is a big deal there... i'd check out the local rental shops around there and see what they rent out... rental companies usually want medium end and durable, so that might fit your bill... if you call, just tell them you want something...

    30 years ago i was fishing just east of west hole on the river... drilled my furthest hole 20' from an open water eddie and had 11" with very little current... pulled the tipup 2 hours later and the ice was down to 2"... 15 minutes later and i'd have been chum... that's when i realized...

    i don't guide, i fish, and take people fishing... when these guides have clients out on toons, i doubt they have time to fish unless anchored or pulling rigs on a nice day... i already had a 112 with remote to run and wouldn't be able to run a kicker at the same time and still fish with a rod...

    ya, with limited flow you will have problems... a diy tap in to a nat gas line might leave you lean if the line is too small... a 1/2" line will give you just under 40k btu's with an 80' run - a 3/4" line will more than double that...
