    Ghost towns of North Dakota

when the rail road first came to ND towns sprung up 7 miles apart because thats how far they could make a round trip in a day with horse and wagon. There are a few interesting stories and videos about the land boom days that are a good read on a rainy day...

    Timber wolf found~

Coyotes were rare when I was a kid , first one I saw was in early 70s when they organized the big deer drives. A guy on post shot it and it was the first one he ever seen too (college age) , the old timers liked to tease so one told him he shot someone's dog and the poor guy went from full...

    Timber wolf found~

I read there are eastern timber wolves that are smaller than Grey wolves. The old timers claimed a MN timber wolf was a coyote , Not sure what MN has but I saw a pair of Grey wolves and one pup about 20 years ago. I watched them for a good 20 minutes and one thing I learned is that If you...

    Any Birders here?

I donno , I've never saw this many up here. In years past they've gathered up and hunkered down here, almost always show up on a rainy day and more than once they sat out a snow storm here but never in numbers like this. They keep coming, I counted 17 this morning and I'm sure theres...

    Any Birders here?

What a swarm of Orioles this year, wife counted 14 of them at one time. I think that's the most we have ever had at one time . Seems like they gather up to replenish thier energy from the flight while they fight for territory and will soon spread out.

    Boat Trailer Wheels/Rims

I don't recall ever seeing corrosion on anything galvanized. I have a 1961 ford Econoline pup with a galvanized body thats ever had any body work done to it and it looks like it just came from the factory minus a little paint missing from someone who must have been having fun with a pressure...

Are you noticing any new birds ? Martins, Orioles and hummingbirds all showed up at the same time this year along with some Rose-breasted Grosbeaks.

    20 ' of 1'' PVC would make a nice light rod .

    So I bought some land...

I asked an old timer who had planted thousands of evergreens by hand in the 40s and 50s how he got his rows so straight. The question landed me the best trick I know when planting trees and garden. Put a marker at the far end of the row and have a long rod, (I use a nice light...
