    Shoot Some Squirrel

Squirrel is very good. Under the front leg (sort of the arm pit) there is some greenish fat. It's a metabolic fat and will make the whole squirrel taste bad if you don't get rid of all of it. At home I just use shake and bake. In camp roll in flour and fry in real butter.

    Stupid question on reloading powder

Retumbo is one of my favorite powders for heavy bullets. I use it in a 300 Win Mag with 210 gr Berger VLD and Hornady 212 gr ELD-X.

    Stupid question on reloading powder

Allen I was reloading 75 gr bullets for my AR 223 today. I use AA2520 and when I finished an old bottle I filled my RCBS measure dumped five loads back into the can then dumped one to weigh. It was .8 gr heavy. I will have to chronograph and see the difference between the bulky load and the...

    Stupid question on reloading powder

Allen first off I would dump some new powder in that measure and with the same setting see what powder weight it dumps. Does the powder smell more like an acrid than ether? Read more: http://www.rifleshootermag.com/reloading/how-to-determine-gunpowder-shelf-life/#ixzz4OO1Pducj

Well this is going to get interesting

Oh man my sense of humor. I have to keep my mouth shut because people like these idiots would want to take it serious and deny it's humor. Like Trump saying maybe the Russians can find Hillary's missing emails. Ooooooh quiet. What was that they were burying under the river again...

    Gun storage

It depends on the depth of the dings. I would not do anything that altered the value of the rifle. I do recrown some of my own rifles, but nothing built back in the pre 1900's. Altering it can ruin the value. If the dings are small they can still throw you off a half foot or more at 25...

    Gun storage

    - - - Updated - - - db2 I am betting you have a ding in your crown. Even rough bores should shoot better than that. You can use a brass polishing jag with 800 grit garnet and polish that without changing the looks of the rifle and it should do much better. Look at Brownell's. If your close...

Well this is going to get interesting

I heard that and thought the same thing. A little fire water and they are willing to die to make whitey look bad. I feel the same frustration as everyone else, but running a road block and shooting in the air will let them legally blast your white ass and claim self defense. I'm absolutely...

Well this is going to get interesting

Sometime in history every race and every nationality has been wronged. It's time to move on. Before hating whites the native Americans should think about what it was like living in a teepee on the great plains, killing each other in tribal wars, and starving half the time. Skeletal remains...

    Montana Bear

It varies. Some 20 year old burns don't have a tree on them. Other five year old burns have two year old trees growing. I don't know what makes the difference.

    Montana Bear

Because the new Hornady ELD-X bullet is new maybe some of you are interested in it's performance. I was using a 300WSM with the new 178 gr Hornady ELD-X. Sort of a picky rifle, but with that bullet and R19 it gives me 3000 fps and groups .4 inches. It's an older Browning A Bolt. Lets see my...

    Montana Bear

I think it's going to take a couple feet of thread. I have seen dens, but not on this trip. The guy who runs cattle on the area I shot the bear was going back to sit on the carcass (we boned it out) for a couple of days. He was sure a cougar or a bear would be on it within 24 hours. He says...

    Montana Bear

:;:exactly flame throwers kill and cook at the same time. It's hard to get the seasoning on the bear if they are familiar with stop, drop, and roll.:) Seriously though the area did have a Forest fire about 15 years ago. I sure didn't want to try walk over across the canyon to the bear with the...

    Montana Bear

Sorry guys I posted on another thread and didn't realize that was bad etiquette. I at last made it to Montana a couple weeks ago. There was snow at the higher elevations. We covered six different mountain ranges in three days. The first day was serious hunting, the second day we were just...

    Montana goat trip

Gardiner is kind of small. I didn't know you could get that kind of yardage in Gardiner. :D. I too was waiting to see some nice white goats with jet black spike horns. I'll look for the pics. Edit: I don't understand the angst guys, I thought we had something in common hunting Montana and...

    Montana goat trip

jdinny bear hunting was good. We hunted six different mountain ranges in three days. Saw a sow with cubs in the Crazy Mountains. Shot a 20 year old female with no cubs. The biologist thought she may be to old to breed. He also said "big head for a girl". The cattleman (said he was not a...
