    I am guessing that is an escapee. Melanistic pheasants are not that uncommon in the domesticated line of pheasants. There are several bred for color variations. Used to know a guy out by Arthur that had several different types, really made my head turn when I first saw them.

    Once you see the GSP start shedding, and it happens twice a year, my best advice is to give your dog a run over with the shop vac once a day. Using the upholstery attachment seems to work pretty well. Other option is to given him/her a really good bath to help remove the shedding hairs...
