End of the year, Hunting, fishing or both?

Rang in the new year by chasing birds Jan 1 and 2. 2 of us shot a limit of roosters and a couple bonus grouse on Friday. 3 of us shot a limit of roosters Saturday. Both days were almost sunrise to sunset hunts. Dog is pretty shot after today so calling it a season...a damn good one too. I...

Right hand shooter left eye dominate

I know how it is taught with a shotgun to shoot with both eyes open. I can tell you, when I shoulder my gun properly and close my dominant eye, I don’t miss. If I don’t do BOTH of those things, I miss. My sight picture with both eyes open - even when pointing and not aiming - is a mess and it is...

Right hand shooter left eye dominate

Yup. I saw this. Personally, I do have to close that dominant eye all the way. If I don’t it really messes with me. Shooting a bow through a peep sight is where it helps my shot the most to have it fully closed because if I don't I have all sorts of double vision happening when trying to line...

I'd like to buy a vowel, Pat. Can I get a "Y" please?

Right hand shooter left eye dominate

I'm left handed and right eye dominant...wish someone would have taught me to shoot right handed as a kid. 40+ years later it's too late to start. I close my dominant right eye whether I'm shooting a bow, rifle, or shotgun. If I didn't, I wouldn't hit a damn thing. Lucky for me, when I use just...

    SB 2315 / Lockout

I respectfully disagree. That part of it is very simple but that is not what has caused this rift.

    SB 2315 / Lockout

I know where I stood on this issue is now different than where I stand today. I hunt private and public land. I also own land. I’ve made lifelong friendships from asking to hunt a piece of property. I like watching other people enjoy my property. Like always, I try hard to see things from...

    SB 2315 / Lockout

I’ve been chewed out by guys like your friend for just looking at critters, John. One of the neighbors of our property pulled that shit once when I was looking at deer from the highway that were on his land and some old bitch that I had the misfortune of crossing paths with while scouting...

    Salmon?

There’s a little mark there on its back by the dorsal fin. Pretty obvious wait really happened here.

    Bha North Dakota chairman

After reading through all of these posts I get the impression that the work of the local ND chapter, no matter how beneficial it may be, will always be overshadowed by the politics of the National heads of the organization. It kind of reminds me of people calling for a boycott of a particular...

    Bha North Dakota chairman

I was young and dumb longer than most. Dumber than most too, I fully admit. I threw in an 18 pack most nights rather than a 6. None of that made me find a thrill in vandalism so I guess I won’t ever understand the sign shooting. Reminds me a little of the idiots burning down their...

    Bha North Dakota chairman

Slightly different topic: Nothing says “I appreciate public land” like bullet holes in signs. I see several in these and I see Plots signs and WMA signs and even highway signs at the top of the skyline shot up like this all the time too. Who in the hell are you people that do this and what in...

    Bha North Dakota chairman

After reading that whole long post by Brock it doesn’t make me like or dislike the organization any more or less I guess. It does make me dislike the chairman of the local chapter though, and that is a problem because first impressions carry a lot of weight and the words and actions of the head...

    Dog misdiagnosis

Easy, buddy. Holy shit you are wound tight today. I never said eating healthy or feeding your dogs healthy food was bad. Eating healthy is great for all sorts of reasons whether your a person or a dog. Saying you can prevent cancer in your dog by feeding them a certain way, however, is a...

    Dog misdiagnosis

"Cancer in dogs can be prevented" That's a pretty bold statement, Bacon. There are so many unknowns with cancer, not to mention it is as different in each individual as the differences amongst individuals themselves whether we are talking about humans or dogs. Cancer is not a virus or foreign...

    Deer Pics and Deer Stories

Knowing all the crap that can and will go wrong on any given hunt, I couldn’t agree with you more...if it falls right into your lap take it and enjoy it! Also, with a fairly new hunter, a taste of success now and then is essential in my opinion. A little of that goes a long way to string them...

Wife hunting deer, while the rest of us are pheasant hunting

Be careful, once you hunt as a threesome things may get a little awkward when you try going back to hunting as a twosome again. You can’t just erase the past...it’s there for the rest of the future. Personally, I’ve hunted in groups as big as 12 before so nothing really phases me anymore.

Wife hunting deer, while the rest of us are pheasant hunting

Nothing about this situation falls under "party hunting". Party hunting refers to filling the tags of other members of the hunting group, not hunting as a group in general. The use of dogs, on the other hand would not fly. - - - Updated - - - The situation you described would be totally...

Snuck up over that hill in the background and shot him while he was sleeping. I know that isn’t the most glorious story but is sure is nice when things work out almost too well sometimes!
