    Gas prices today~

It would help today? It wouldn't even be functional yet. Even with speculation included, we'd still be screwed. That is the point I'm making. And you pointed out the exact problem- we consume more than we produce. I agree that it would help offset, but even still we aren't netting that much...

    Olympics?

I have been watching, enjoy the competition. Unlike most of the crappy sports people like to watch, the large bunch of these athletes devote their lives to their sports and don't become (or act like) rich a holes. There are some that do, but these is so much hard work to get to this point you...

    Gas prices today~

Until we can get our nuts out of the vice that OPEC has us in, we're going to be paying these prices regardless of politics. Keystone XL doesn't change things much. We need investment in shale oil exploration, but given the wild price fluctuations few want to go there anymore. We've got to...

Minnesota is going to burn again

You put yourself in the situation of the victim and you get his reaction. Put yourself in the situation of the officer and you get his reaction. I have the utmost respect for police and understand the situations they are put in are very difficult. But I do not think this will end well for the...

    Soil conditions

SD/ND border, 30-36" plus of frost a week ago I was told. And that was a couple weeks ago. Keep in mind this area got some big rains in July and went into fall with good subsoil moisture.

    401 k

Don't forget about the ludicrous gains we've had over the past 10 years plus. Heck, I remember in the crash the Dow being at 6600. I'm still saying that at 35,000 it is overvalued and due for correction. But what do I know? I am long term and much as I'd love to time it, I won't. However...

Another good one. Hell of a read though...long, small text lol!

    The future

If you have ever read Bradbury's Farenheit 451, you need to. That is where we're all headed. Written in 1953, but if you can put yourself in the context of that time, it's very much like today and the discussion of the Metaverse. And in a larger sense where the world is right now. And if you...

    Spring Snow Goose

I hunted lots of years, both fall and spring, with around 600 decoys. This was with 1-4 guys....and with just me that number was way too much work. I never felt in the fall that I needed more decoys. In the spring, I never felt like more would have REALLY made a difference. Too many people...

    How thick is the ICE?

Heard there was a sled that went down in an open pressure ridge a night or two ago too? Sounds like they were lucky to get out. 1200 fisherman and better ice than past years leads to some iffy stuff. Hope everyone stays safe!

    Water Heaters: Tankless vs Traditional

Done many a water damage repair job because of pinhole leaks and worse on old recirculation systems. Seems like one guy we damn near had his basement taken apart multiple times over three years. Elbows wore out, pin holes showed up, nasty deal.

    How low did you go?

It is amazing how each "area" of the country is setup for surviving their normal weather, but when things go bad it gets really bad. That AK situation looks terrible, winds that high for that long are tough on anyone and anything. Texas last year in that cold spell was a mess. And even us...

    J-Wheelz?

I know a guy that had them for a few years. Saw them in action in muddy fields spring snow goose hunting. No comparison to tracks IMO. Can't comment on snow though. Not saying they didn't help a bit, just nothing like what tracks do.

Amazon has had the NOCO units on their Prime Day the last few years FYI. I haven't used mine but everyone I know loves them. Just gotta remember to keep it charged!

    Massive fire in denver~

Between Boulder and Broomfield on Hwy 36. It's foothills country, but there are no trees in that area. It's prairie rolling hills country not unlike a lot of the Front Range stuff just west of I25 from Ft. Collins to Denver. Very urbanized areas that burned too, it's almost unthinkable that a...

    Massive fire in denver~

Mountain wave winds are freaky, freaky deals. Terribly sad situation and one that most people could never imagine happening in a "city" environment. There is really no understanding of why one house burned, then the next didn't. Mother nature is a nasty thing to deal with. I'm sure folks...

    Tribe shuts down access Mobridge

The Corp doesn't own the land anymore. All the land on the SRST and CRST reservations was "given" to the tribe, including all the takeline land that you usually know as public. That ramp & parking lot, along with the campground and The Bay, were also given to the tribe by the Corp. It sucks...

    Conceal Carry

Honest question- I have never considered anything but a pistol a concealed weapon, at least in terms of having a permit for one. In reading the SD concealed carry website, everything is in regards to firearms. Does my concealed carry permit really cover other types of items beyond a pistol?
