    "Hiker" style hunting boot recommendation?

I go back and forth from Merrell's to Keen's for my day to day footwear. Quality seems similar, though the waterproofing on them seems to hold up really well. I tried a bunch of stuff on today and I hate to say it but I may end of with boots from the Land of the East. Just did not find a set...

    Pellet Grills and Smokers

Green Mountains are great grills. I would have bought one but got a Camp Chef for really cheap. Not built like a Green Mountain but has been outstanding for 4+ years. I'd put it up against a Traeger all day long. Get a blanket too, saves uber amounts of pellets even in warm conditions.

    "Hiker" style hunting boot recommendation?

I agree and disagree all at once LOL! I agree there is no perfect boot for everything. That said, I long for more simplicity. Remember when you had a pair of boots and that is what you wore? And you had a shotgun & rifle you used for everything? Now I have a light set of boots, heavy set of...

    "Hiker" style hunting boot recommendation?

Thanks for the recommendations. Couldn't sleep last night and was going through reviews....that was a mistake. Then today I called around to some of my hunting buddies and that too was a mistake. I'm certainly a buy once cry once type shopper, but I'm not sure which way to go. I wear Keen's...

    "Hiker" style hunting boot recommendation?

My old boots are at the end of their life so turkey hunting I've been using my Keen hiking boots. The level of comfort compared to a 9" leather boot is incredible. I'm going to try out a more "hiker" style hunting boot next. Maybe that isn't the right term, but something 6-7" tall max, light...

    Spring snows

They don't hold a candle to a B-1B in terms of noise. I lived around Ellsworth and there were two times when the sound was incredible. First was cold winter nights, those nights when sound goes forever. They usually go in pairs and a full afterburner takeoff just roars. The second is the...

    Squeaky boat trailer?

I have an '04 Shorelandr galvanized trailer, roller model with a 19' boat on it. It's seemed to get more squeaky and noisy the past couple years. I checked fasteners last year and nutted/bolted everything. My old trailer's leaf springs were noisy and a coat of WD-40 every month quieted it...

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just sowed in the early season greens. And spinach to replace the fall plantings. Have to mow today too, grass is getting shaggy. Should have been turkey hunting instead but oh well!

    Nordic Track.... WATCH OUT!

I don't disagree. My point is that if you have a bike you already ride, any smart trainer and an app can provide you with a very similar experience. And you can put it in the closet when you're not using it. If I had to use wind as my resistance training I'd quit. We have hills here and...

    Nordic Track.... WATCH OUT!

A bit of a side subject, but instead of going the nordic track/Peloton route I'd get a smart trainer. If you have a bike you like to ride already, something like a Kickr Core or Garmin Tactix will do the same thing as the Peloton. Lots of apps out there, Zwift namely, but others that are...

    Its Turkey Time

This is what the start of turkey season has been in the Black Hills. Cold and 16" of new snow. Better than the 30" we got before opener last year. Birds are gobbling but sticking pretty tight to the hens. Got one decent morning of weather then the crap hit. Going to let it all settle a bit...

    Outdoor photo request

One of my favorite waterfowling days. Duck season closed a week before this hunt and before the geese came out we had thousands of ducks landing on us. Pretty incredible.

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is a good place to order supplies? With this funk we've got going around I'm not doing much shopping in my normal places. And looking for some different varieties too that I can't find locally. I am going back to San Marzano's this year. I make sauces and the Roma's have been OK...

No paddle fish season, & tournaments canceled April & May

Wonder if any tournaments will go "virtual". Honor system essentially, much the catch photo release game out there, but without the gathering. Lots of other sports are going to this in some form. If you could do some sort of GPS tracking with geolocation of the photos, that would make it...

    Spring snows

We don't kill enough to matter hardly anyway. I know a guy who hunted 212 area with a reputable guide and they killed 15 in two days with multiple guns. And this isn't a terrible year. They need a bust year or two or three to slow the numbers. A good hatch year I don't think with the best...

    Lawn Care - Scott's 4-Step Program

I use the cheap stuff, bag in the spring, one in the fall, and if needed in the summer. If it gets really stressed in the summer, hitting it at the right time can be tough. If you get it right it really bounces back nicely. But, I will say I almost have better results from aeration compared...

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, they certainly get larger. Sets are easier and do really well in my conditions for whatever reason. If I do my job, I can get sets to be softball size. Not the monsters that seedlings produce, but good size.

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, W SD is much different than up there. My grass is greening up right now. I've put in onions as early as I possibly could the last several years, snow cold whatever doesn't seem to bother them and they get a good start. From the sounds of it they'll be under a few inches of snow later in...
