I will usually dissect an area with Navionics before going to a new area. Have 5-10 spots you want to try. I 'm usually looking for easy transitions from the basin areas to feed (shallow) areas.
I like Garmin and run a 73sv strictly for sidescan, but I will always have a Bird on my boat for mapping. I would not enjoy fishing as much without the LakeMaster mapping on Sakakawea.
Does Garmin work with either of the main mapping chips? (Navionics/Lakemaster)
