    According to the extended forecast, it's that sad time of the year...when the open water season is ending and it will be weeks before we can safely drill holes in the ice...hate this time of year! Plus I don't hunt to pass this in between time!

    The end of the open water season is quickly approaching...based on what we've gotten so far this fall from mother nature. I'm hoping we'll have fishable open water on the bigger lakes until Thanksgiving...but I'm not real confident. That being said...who is taking the boat out this weekend...

    where did fall go???

    Exactly raider...throw in the fact we were ice fishing last year on 10 November and had fishable ice through the very end of April...and it all adds up to fewer days in the boat on soft water! Tell you what tho...I'm taking the boat out tomorrow...35 to 40 degrees and very light winds...sign me up!

    Yea guess that makes sense Allen...I was just surprised yesterday to still see some of the bigger marks in 20+ fow...first thing in the AM. Will be interesting to see where they are at next weekend after a week of really cool nights.

    The next week forecast lows vary from 29 to 38. So with those temps at night, when will the lakes turn over where the cold surface water starts dropping? In other words...how much longer before the fish start creeping up into the shallows to "warm" up? Surface temps on Audubon yesterday still...
