    Vortex or Leupold

SDMF you have me beat I have only had about 15. What I have noticed is most of my accuracy problems have not been rifles, but scopes. Most of my Leupolds would hold inside an inch, but I get rid of rifles that will not group under 1/2 inch. Well except for those with open sights. I have no...

    Vortex or Leupold

The last Leupold MarkIV that I had was on my 300 Win mag. When I shot a group with it I would get two distinct groups and inch and a half apart. A group of about a quarter inch at the bottom of my one inch bull and a group about a half inch above the one inch bull. Dropped on an old Bushnell...

    Gun season during the rut?

Same here and back when we could have a few doe license too I posted a picture of myself with four rifles. I thought only liberals got emotional. Some people said it must sound like a war when a deer goes past you. I don't know about them, but I can only shoot one gun at a time. Some people...

    One tag system

There is a simple solution to those who complain about archery and black powder hunting. Buy a bow and a smoke pole. If you don't your reduced opportunities are your own fault. Along that same thought line if you think gun hunters have it made buy a rifle.

    Vortex or Leupold

When I gave up on Leupold I went to Sightron, then to Nikon, and now I am trying to replace everything with Vortex.

    Vortex or Leupold

I gave up on Leupold after sending a Mark IV in twice and a $27 20 year old Bushnell still outshot it when on the same rifle. Old Leupold were great and I still have two tacticals from the early 1980's without a mark on them. I see they bring a good price on snipers hide. I may have to part...

    Venison Tiger Meat

I ate a lot of tiger meat in college. Take a class in parasitology and it doesn't taste that good anymore. I dissected a mink once that didn't look good. His kidneys were hollow except for a couple of big worms in each kidney. At one time they looked at my liver with ultrasound and there was...

    Pellet Smoker/Grill Recommendations

Thank you much for the advise. I did buy the insulated blanket and I did a seven pound Boston Butt roast for pulled pork yesterday. I ws disappointed. It didn't turn out as good as my offset cheapo that I got at Walmart on fall closeout for $75. I used wood from the shelterbelt that...

    One tag system

If you look in the records of other states that have gone one tag if I remember right it had very little affect because about 70% of bow hunters stopped bow hunting and went rifle. Now in states where you can hunt with any weapon but only get one tag that didn't happen. However harvest...

    Gun season during the rut?

They left my yard about a week ago. I think the old boys are coming out of the woodwork now. leave the season as is. The only difference would be camping in knee deep snow some years in a later season. I think most of the does are bred and now the old big bucks are trying to find something...

    Gun season during the rut?

Big drawback though. You would be killing some nice bucks before they had a chance to breed. Also, some areas already have a low buck to doe population. I think not only would you affect the population negatively in some areas, but the genetics in most areas. If you think it's more sporting...

    One tag system

I have had this feeling in the past that some people who don't like someone will give another person an unsigned rep with language that would lead you to believe it's someone else. I am sure I have had that happen. I usually don't say anything and hope that bugs them. :D My only change in...

    Ruger Preditor

I bought the 308 to have a junker to play with so I don't wear out my custom 308. What a surprise. I shoot heavy 200 gr VLD-X because short barrels loose less velocity with heavy bullets. Not just feet per second, but percentage wise. I am pushing the 200 gr to 2459 and even though pulling...

    One tag system

KDM I mostly agree. The only thing I don't like is one of the scams you run across in the Badlands. X from Fargo or Bismarck or Timbucktwo buys a quarter or often a section in the badlands. He gets a gratis tag and often an elk depredation tag. He rents it extremely cheap to the guy he...

    North Dakota Game Wardens Assc

I shot a coyote with my 300 mag this year. I did shoot the coyote before my deer, but I had four rifles in camp and I shot him from camp. Of course I shot my deer while I was only ten feet from my camper too. I believe you can be under gunned, but I don't believe you can be over gunned. I...

Talk me into a deer rifle

Bed Wetter I am going to PM you with an idea and give you the number of a gun smith in Michigan that may be able to help you.

    Pellet Smoker/Grill Recommendations

I went up to Home of Economy Friday to buy a potato ricer to make lefse and bought a Treager. Now I suppose I need that insulated blanket to cook in the winter. I picked up a pork butt roast today so I can try it out this week. I plan on marinating in apple juice and apple cider to begin...

    The Great Escape

OK, Dave I sponsored the measure the first time, but not the second. I had different ideas than them, they did things the first time without talking to the rest of us. There were thirty sponsors and two or three did things without talking to anyone else. When the second time came around I...

    The Great Escape

I sure can't fault a guy that stays on his own land. That picture a couple years ago of the guy who dumped 300 bushels of corn for bait, I might not like him. Some guides lease up thousands of acres. Some of them let duck hunters in if they are not hunting it. Some of them will not let...
