    Shooting bag/rifle rest?

Kurtr, wow the heel of that stock is nearly in line with the bore. My Savage 10BA Stealth is much like that. I would guess that's why it has very little rise shooting without the suppressor. I think I am going to have to purchase a lab radar like they are using in that video.

    Shooting bag/rifle rest?

I have a number of problems with that video on recoil. Look at minute 4:34 where the guy says as you can see the muzzle did not move. From behind and above that muzzle can move a lot and you can not see it. From the side I can see it. If you can see it at all it's lifting. The other thing...

    Shooting bag/rifle rest?

Svnmag that was a good video. I can't remember the guys name, but a well known bench rest shooter had an article much the same as this video in Shooting Times a couple of years ago. The Ruger American had just come out and he was shooting it in 223. His groups clover leafed with that...

    Shooting bag/rifle rest?

I agree with your techniques. For the past two years I shoot everything bipod, simply to practice as I shoot. I actually don't find anything more stable. I will get .2 inch off sod, and have a 1/4 inch lift off hard ground with my Savage 10BA Stealth in 6.5 Creedmoor, and a 1/2 inch lift off...

    Shooting bag/rifle rest?

It's all physics from the velocity and weight of the recoil to the direction of recoil dependent on the platform as he mentions in the video. I can't see .001 inch lift with my eyes, but that is one inch high at 100 yards. I noticed his recoil on the wood was between the support beams. Hard...

    Shooting bag/rifle rest?

Not really. You can forward load the bipod until the legs nearly bend and it will compensate some, but only some. Freefloat helps some, but that doesn't cure it all either. Some rifles work better freefloated, and others will need forend pressure to stabilize. It's all up to individual...

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

Kurtr I am lucky enough to have a son in Montana with horses and all the gear. I wish North Dakota had more public land. I think we are about the lowest in the nation. Well, lowest west of the Mississippi. I don't know much about those eastern states. I'll throw in a map of gov public land...

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

At my age it makes little difference, but I morn for the passing of an American Heritage. May our grandchildren forgive us.

There is an effort to take that away too. When they tell you improved access you will notice they don't mention free access.

    Shooting bag/rifle rest?

I use a bipod for nearly everything. Over 1000 yards I sometimes use a butt bag. I make my own bags. Sand is heavy for field use. I bought poly beads at Walmart, but they don't sell them anymore, and I can't find them on the internet. I think I will try the 6mm BB"S they use in airport...

Well this is going to get interesting

Some guys left big ruts in my yard a couple of years ago. I filled them with black dirt and reseeded. It must be a little different strain of Kentucky bluegrass. It's about two shades darker green than the rest of the lawn. It also greens up sooner in spring. Never had that happen before.

Good winter tire for 2500 Duramax

I think I have tried everything everyone mentioned. My 2012 diesel has such a goofy size I had to buy Toyo all season two years ago. I had them before and wouldn't have bought them given a good alternative. I liked the BF Goodrich, but decided to try the Firestone Destination a couple weeks...

    meteorological pontifications...

We had four inches last night at 10:00. High wind and white out right now. I have new tires in town and an appointment at 7:30 this morning. I don't know if I can make it. Our normal snow fall is about 38 inches here. I'll stick my neck out for 45 inches. I predict we will be looking for...

    Marcum Underwater Camera

I have the Marcum SV625SD. I had an old Aqua View camera before so it's hard for me to compare to todays cameras. Having worked in wetland ecology for years watching the camera is as much fun as catching fish for me. I have caught fish that didn't move the bobber. They would get it in their...

Well this is going to get interesting

Good, I hope they stay until we get -20 with 50mph winds. A few very miserable days that scares the crap out of them is what they deserve. Nice good North Dakota white out where no one can go rescue their dumb ass.
