I have done the 12ga #8 a few times never stayed around for a body count. Those small ones 22 Bird shot works just fine. The wasp spray is fun also if I can keep the evil laugh under control.
Got some tall grass in the ditch out in front of my house and last night being hot and humid they were out in force. Freaked out my lab, she must have watched them for 3 hours until one buzzed the picture window. One giant leap off the back of the couch into her kennel. I got that what the hell...
Wife and I were out fishing on Friday and true to this thread the walleyes were in the weeds at xxxxxxxx lake. Only boat out there until we were leaving. Going back on Monday for another fun day.
ItemB I use like you would a bumper or hide and then take pup out to find. I like the pheasant scent to get their attention. Just use 4 or 5 times a session worked best for me.
Got my first dinner out of the garden today. Baby carrots, peas and little onions about the size of golf ball. Steamed and then butter coated with a garlic scampi seasoning. I love my garden. Tomatoes are flowering and so are potatoes .Peppers are close to flowering and so are my first planting...
Frozen birds work just fine for training. I used frozen pheasants that I had breasted out. Fold them up with a little duct tape, put in plastic bag worked wonderful and the dog gets the pheasant smell as well and they are reusable.
When I was about 10 my cousin pulled my lifless body out of Ottertail lake and pumped a couple gal of water out of me and for that I was forever greatful. I make a point to stop by her grave every year and still thank her.
I got a old cooler to take along next Wed. when we fish that lake again and plan on keeping a few to try. Going to put them on ice right away when we catch them.
They are fun to catch, they are one fighting SOB until you get them out of the water then they hardly move. Wife and I must have caught a doz. of them last Thursday. Most weight about 5 to 8 # I would guess.
Anyone ever tried eating it. Watched a lot of vidio's on cleaning and eating the fish but there was a lot of trailer houses in the background and a lot of southern drawl involved in the explaination. Just saying.
