Maybe some clay to close to surface, drys out in august heat and will not let water through, careful with chicken poop. too much and you will have a bare spot for years to come because of too much ammonia.     If I am hunting unfamiliar ground I have a " good" wire cutter in my back pocket, one that will cut cable if need be. Then all the sew-em up stuff in the truck. Super Glue in a real emergency, and vets number on my cell phone. I have 6 different vet numbers depending on where I hunt.

    Go with Johnr's advice. We used that stuff when our basement took on water due to sump pump fail. Works great. Then follow up with the dryer sheets, not to strong and it keeps the mice out.
