Seeing all the pictures of the high country velvet mule deer hitting the ground make me jealous. Good luck hope he gets one i think they make a hell of a mount
Also its not like i have been sitting on the couch hitting the busch lites and then expecting to jump up and hit the mountains. This has been a year long endeavor since coming home last year of training refining the diet and doing the best i can to physically be ready.
Nope the pack out is part of the otc diy thing. It's a challenge I look forward to

We were there last year that's how I know mules won't work. No trails and to steep
I'm thinking 2 trips should be really doable than. Nice part is lows in high 20's that time of year so meat should not spoil.
Imagine packing out with Aron Snyder and a couple of the mountain goats he runs with. They have done a elk and camp in one trip a few different times in Colorado.

So since i will be leaving in 49 days (whos keeping track) for another elk hunt this year. When it comes to pack out for guys that have killed do you go heavy and each take a half plus camp and grind it out or go lighter and make multiple trips. Say it is about 5-8 miles through some pretty...
My guy comes with on all the hikes getting ready for out west. He is ready to go. Little dummy training tonight and just excited at 8 as he was when he was a pup.
we will be at 7000-8500 or so we do have a place we can go in the middle so we can be flexible. I know if we get an elk it will be multiple trips no way we get camp and a whole bull out in one trip.
that is me taking everything my self but me and the guy i am going with are going to sit down and really refine the list. I was bored and threw every in the pack i can cut 5 pounds but i would rather be comfortable than not up there. I have trained to carry the weight
