    Magazines?

It's sad, isn't it? I used to work in print. First newspapers, then magazines. I really loved it -- but I think I was born a generation too late. Personally, I've stopped all magazine subscriptions. With everything available online, the physical copy just creates more clutter. Plus (and let's be...

    anybody bird hunting

Hit "Old Faithful" and didn't disappoint for numbers -- but the birds sure didn't hold tight for opener birds. Wound up walking a new spot that looked miiiiighty sharpie, and got a single to do things right that held tight in some little gray bush with red berries. One was better than none, and...

Plan on partaking Sunday at some point. Looking forward to a refresher for the GWP.

    Top tier ND taxidermists

Sportsman's Taxidermy in EGF is about as museum quality as they come. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. (I realize that's technically not "in" ND, however it's close)

    Minnesota Bear

That's pretty gnarly! Nicely done. I'd send a pic of that to the MN DNR. I bet they have some bear biologist who either has seen that before, or hasn't, and may want to know more about it. Either way, awesome!

    Sharp-tails/ MT

Top three upland birds for me are ruffed grouse, Hungarian partridge, and sharptail. However, they all so markedly different it's hard to compare apples to apples. Ruffs and Hungarians run more than they fly, so their breast meat is paler with a delicate flavor. I harken ruffies to "nature's...

    Pointing Labs

Go with a reputable breeder. Please don't go searching (or asking) for some mix where you have no idea what you're going to get. You're just as liable to get a flushing dog that can't retrieve as you are with one that has desirable traits.

This is what happens when you drink and drive .............. a combine

Can't have been just one -- he looks like his liver is used to at least six Corona a night, or the equivalent thereof.

    Leveling backseat for dog kennel

I got one of those to cover my backseat! It's Army Surplus from Fleet Farm (Swiss Army, I think). Thin, but heavy and itchy as hell. Horrible for humans. Dog love it.

    Leveling backseat for dog kennel

I have nothing to add, other than it's nice to see a conversation regarding hunting dogs. Carry on :D

    Early Goose...Results & pics

Took my kiddo out Friday afternoon and found plenty of geese, however they were all in bare dirt fields, most of which were either very muddy, or posted, or both. Plus the crop of mosquitoes out there darn near tried carrying away the pickup, so we decided it was better to wait a bit for things...

More of ND's public land at stake

I believe North Dakota is at a tipping point that will firmly go one way or another after this fall. With the Canadian border closed, the state wildlife biologist already admitted there's been a large influx in NR waterfowl licenses purchased. There will be more hunters in our state than ever...

    For you weather geeks: China

This is unreal -- mostly because at no point in the last several months have I seen a single news story about this. Just the fact that China is gobbling up our corn reserves because their food supplies were destroyed should at least make the local news as it impacts our farmers.

    2020 Sheep In The Books

Have you had issues with guides up there in the past? I find it amazing that, in a state as expansive and seemingly uncharted as AK, hunters still find a way to crowd each other out. My guess it has something to do with topography, general access, and units/availability of huntable sheep...

Pics Airplane Project Update: 95% complete

So I suppose a plane, unlike maybe a small boat or even a car, isn't something you'd want to "test out" before it's 100 percent complete ;) Then again, the old man already has 1,400 hours into it, what's a dozen more?? Nice work and dedication. Hope the maiden voyage is sa-weeeeet.

    Waterfowl season 2020

I'm actually thinking of taking the entire resident opener week off just to pile up the brown birds before the floodgates open. Then with a freezer full, say to heck with it and hunt something else the reset of the season. I have friends coming out of the wood work wondering where to hunt in...

What's this boat worth? Price ranges?

I think 75% of a boat's price comes down to the motor. So even though the boat itself might be 20 years old, if the motor is only 3 then it's probably worth a lot more, especially if the owner took care of everything.

    Where thou art is KDM?

KDM is going to be like Batman: He'll be here when he's needed, then disappear back into the night.

    School Reopening

I think the "sacrificial lambs" have been waiting in line since March. Namely, the nurses, doctors, plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, auto mechanics, and everyone else deemed "essential" to keep this country somewhat rolling when the pandemic hit. And from what I've seen, they haven't...
