    Deck advice for guy

I've done two decks at my place. One is a 12x14, all green treat, 5/4 deck boards. it is attached to the house and has footings below the frost line. The new one I built, is small, 8x3, with steps down to a large patio. I used the top of the line composite from Menards for the decking, white...

    ND College SAVE 529

I'm using the 529 program over the Roth IRA - simply because it can be used for generations. In savage's scenario, if kid 3 doesn't use it, Savage can keep the 529 going and continue to invest in it, then give it to his grandkids, and if they don't use, they can give it to their kids, and it...

    Water Heaters: Tankless vs Traditional

I considered this earlier this year. We're a family of 6, and we ended up getting up a 50 gallon tank with natural gas burner, with as many BTU's as I could get (65,000, I think). Prior to that, we had a 40 gallon electric tank unit which was terrible. The recovery time is excellent with the new...

    Dewalt cordless lawn tools.

finally had to replace the carb on my stihl FS55 gas trimmer after 9 years. $60 at RDO. Neighbor has a Milwaukee 18v trimmer and blower, he likes it, but I'm still a bit skeptical.

    2 stroke vs. 4 stroke

My last boat was an 02 Lund with a 75 4-stroke mercury tiller. Russ at boat works got it tuned up for me, and it ran like a top. It was carbureted, with 4 carbs, but as long as running clean gas and taking care of it, it was great. That being said, I was looking to re-power it with a 75...

    Where to find fish!

i caught a largemouth just north of fox island boat ramp about 10 years ago. And i think the badlands bass bandits group has a bass tournament on the river from time to time, targeting the marinas in and around bismarck/mandan. Hopefully a member of them is on here and give some insight.

i reported and sat on a jury for a 2 day trial about a month ago in burleigh county. It was cool to experience the process. it was my first time ever having to report to the courthouse. all the other times have been settled prior too.

    highway tax

i'm going to guess something like what snow said. There will/should be an additional fee to register and renew an electric vehicle. But in all reality, the electric cars that are out now are doing minimal damage to the roads. Anything less than 10,000 lbs is negligible.

    Audubon

i've experienced this on Audoban, actually drilled a few holes right on top of a spring. several years ago, had 10-12" of ice over 20' of water. Drilled some holes over a sunken island and had 4-6" of ice. After the holes were drilled and we were set up, the ice flooded around us, and water was...

    Backpack leaf blower

Stihl would be my preference, strictly because there a bunch of dealers and parts readily available. That being said, I haven't heard anything negative about Husqvarna or Echo. I don't own a leaf blower, but do have a Stihl chainsaw and Stihl trimmer. Spark plugs and carburetors are the only...

    Walk behind mowers

i've got a 1999 Toro super recycler, with the same personal pace system they still use today. You should be able to buy that part from Acme or any toro parts store for around $30. Pretty simple fix. When mine finally dies (its burning quite a bit of oil right now), i'll be getting another super...
