    One thing I have learned over the years with projects like this is what ever you think it will cost, double it. Could be a fun project though. But for realsies, please use a vented heater if you plan on sleeping in it.

    Which GPS unit?

    x3 on this. Used an H2OC handheld the first couple years. Smart phone and navionics last season and loved it. Just make sure to bring a battery pack charger thingy to be able to charge your phone if needed.
