    Getting Started Trolling Cranks

50/50 is a guide really. but the concept is let out 50' of line, clip on your snap weight and let out another 50'. It's really just a guide though. It's mostly trial and error. For example, if I use a 1oz weight, let out 50' the clip on the weight, and lets say using a #5 shad rap, but trying...

    Getting Started Trolling Cranks

I have used braid for the past 5 years with snap weights and have never had a problem. I did switch out the clips though. I use the clip that has the small peg in the middle. If you check offshore tackle, you will see what I'm talking about.

    Getting Started Trolling Cranks

Sorry for the late response, haven't been on here much. But to start I would keep it basic. Get some trolling rods. Start with a couple shorts, 5'6" and a couple 8'6". Add lead core if you want, the thing that drives me nuts with lead core, is you are tied to a specific speed of 2.0mph or...

    Getting Started Trolling Cranks

For rods, just make sure whatever you buy has glass. Much better at absorbing the shock of the fish and won't tear hooks out. Personally, I have been using the scheels brand rods for about 7 years and have had great success with them, and I mostly crank. For reels, I use the Okuma cold water...

So, If gas hits 5 a gal this summer...

I'm more concerned about the lack of access to Sak. Let ramps available and just as many people fishing. I have a feeling it's just going to be packed everywhere you go all summer.

    Lower Unit Freezing

Serious question about rule #2. I generally don't fish at ice out in the spring or super late fall when this could happen. how long does a guy let it drain? I mean in the summer, I can pull out and park, and the trailer and bunks are still dripping water. I've watched boats at hazleton in...

    Alkaline Lake

Looking for information on ice and access to Alkaline lake south of Dawson. I haven't heard much about it this year. Can anyone share if it is accessible by truck? What is snow cover like? Thanks in advance.

My dad being from Watford told me this story. When I was a kid took me to the bridge that they did the hanging. Can't wait for the movie!

    Bia ans?

They were at Fort Stevenson on Saturday checking too. The guy who checked my boat told me they caught someone trying to get into Audoban that had muscles on their trailer. And would you believe it, from MN too!

Bow grip wrap or carbon bow?

Not to be sarcastic, but I wear gloves in the late season. I don't know any material that doesn't get cold when it's below zero.

    New Walleye record 16.39lbs

16.39 is the official weight. I had a quick text message with the angler that caught it. I don't want to give all the info as it's his story to tell. He is a member of this site and I'm sure will post the story.

    Alkaline Ice Conditions

I was out on Saturday, and fished all over. Ice was 22"+ everywhere I drilled. However, there was a truck about 200 yards west of the boat ramp that had it's rear end fall through. Also, if you put in my the boat ramp, there is a huge pressure ridge just to the east and it runs north/south...

    Robinhood App

Check out thinkorswim.com. It's part of TD ameritrade. It gives you so much good information. 50 day moving average, 200 day moving average, etc. You also have the ability to trade options or short stock. Lots of what is going on with GME lately. It's a great tool to use to help know where...

    New Caliber 6.8 Westerner

I saw that Browning/Winchester teamed up to create a new caliber. Looks like an improvement of the 270wsm maybe. Going with the long, heavy for caliber bullets and available in 1:7.5 twist or 1:8. It will be interesting to see if this catches on the way so many of the 6.5's have.

    new kicker...

the yammy can always be pained black. I run a 9.9 on my 18'6" reata and gives me plenty. I don't have troll master, but installed a throttle control by the drivers seat. Basically put it in gear and use the bow mount to steer. Works wonders, is quiet as can be and barely burns gas at all...

If you don't mind traveling, you could check out Indian Hills and avoid the trip to MN.

    New caliber recommendations

I also vote for the 6.5 prc. I bought one a year ago and have been nothing but impressed and compared to the 7mm, if you are shooting an equal weight bullet, the 6.5 prc will be faster after 250 yards because it has less drag. So you can get a cartridge that will shoot great at distance, carry...
