    Early goose season

The old guys with the buckets and the tweed jackets are laughing at both the A Frames and Layout blinds ;)

    Early goose season

In standing beans. That's about it. Just saw the first few fields of grains coming down yesterday. So I think it'll be a bit.

    replace home a/c

Well, Daikin comes with 12 year parts and labor warranty. Pretty darn robust. Honestly all the bigger brands (Daikin, Goodman, Amana, Trane, Bryant) are only as good as how well they are installed. If they're installed as instructed Day 1 and maintained regularly afterward, you should experience...

Top 5 best places in ND

A: West Fargo is an armpit. B: Horace and West Fargo are the same freaking city at this point. Hell, you don't even know where one city stops and the other starts. Same goes for the whole Fargo-WF-Horace area. The only thing keeping Moorhead separate is a river.

    replace home a/c

Be up front on what you're looking for: Cheapest price, best service, best warranty, better efficiency, etc. They run the gamut. I personally prefer a company that will be there if there are issues. Without good customer service, a new AC means nothing. Also ask if there's a cost advantage or...

    DL Devils 7/21-7/23

Back at it! Annual DL trip with the family and friends did not disappoint. Brought my son for the first time and he was a helluva net man and walleye wrangler. We absolutely nailed the weather. High 70s and low 80s. Winds were from almost dead calm to maybe 15 MPH. And of course, tons of fish...

    Toads!

Toads are darn near plague level in Ottertail county. Was visiting a relative and their cabin on Blanche lake and you couldn't even walk outside after the sun went down without stepping on one. Dogs were perplexed, to say the least.

    Skeeters

They're even bad in town, which is odd. Usual they're spraying constantly, but this year seems like one must take matters into his own hands.

    2023 nd deer rifle draw

Finally got my 2F1 buck tag! Of course right after drought and substantially bad winter. But oh well. I'm excited to go back to my old stomping grounds!!

    Maybe it'll be today! 🙃

    Another winter storm

Melting as soon as it hits in Fargo. Seems like the worst is north, east and west of us LOL.

    Flood Watch 2023

Seems to be doing exactly what we thought around here: Soaking into the ground. Very dry fall combined with an early snow that stayed all winter really insulated the soil. It's fascinating to see how dry the ground is even a foot or so away from a melting snowpile in my backyard.

    Another winter storm

I'm going to get the generator working tonight (just a 2000 watt, which isn't enough for the hole house, but at least keeps the fridge cold and will also power a heater and internet).

    Sump pumps/pits, discharge hoses, etc.

We have our ready to discharge into our main drain (shh, don't tell Fargo). Also not a bad ideal to get a water/leak sensor. Honeywell Lyric has a wifi option.

    Did I hit him?...

I shoot squirrels in city limits all the time -- with a BB gun. Using a .22 is some kind of stupid.

    So...Recession?

We finance quite a bit for furnace/AC installs. Just got notified our lowest no-fee plan APR is jumping from 9.9 to 11.9. We'll be shopping for other lenders to see if we can find lower rates for customers. However, the trend is everything related to loans will be higher interest rates and fewer...

    Another winter storm

News this morning said we're currently tied for coldest March on record. Maximum high of 37. So at least we're not the COLDEST March. Ha!

    Train

Heard it on the news this morning. Sounds like it's leaking road oil and some sort of salt brine.

    So...Recession?

Ya our property was assessed 10% higher over last year. We couldn't afford our house if we bought it at today's market "value."

    So...Recession?

You read that right. She was fresh out of college and there were no jobs. She wound up taking shift work in the NICU, which was a job she loved. As far as I personally know, healthcare is NOT "recession proof." Every industry has it's limits. Finding a job right now and the past several years...
