Over Christmas break, our 4-H club built ice fishing rods and then headed to the lake to test them out—with success all around.</p><p></p><p>A few years ago, I wrote and received a grant from North Dakota Game and Fish to create a shareable “trunk” of rod-building components, allowing 4-H clubs across the state access to rod-building kits. Since then, our club has also built summer rods.</p><p></p><p>This is just an FYI—if you’re interested in youth rod building and 4-H, there are resources available.
