Over Christmas break, our 4-H club built ice fishing rods and then headed to the lake to test them out—with success all around. A few years ago, I wrote and received a grant from North Dakota Game and Fish to create a shareable “trunk” of rod-building components, allowing 4-H clubs across the state access to rod-building kits.
