7mm Question for Reloaders

In your experience what bullet weight seems to consistently provide better accuracy in a standard twist (all things considered)? Thanks

Had decent luck with Berger 175gr elite hunter with rem brass and primers and H1000 powder in a friends factory Rem BDL and Rem long range hunter. He has rebarreled the BDL since and it still likes the 175’s. Wish I could help more but that’s the only 7mm I’ve ever loaded for. I wish I could remember if it was the 160 or 175gr partitions that also showed really good results in his rifle.

I shoot Hornady 139 gr Interlocks, they hold up real on Deer and Elk with very good results. It's the only bullet myself and Son's shoot.

I had a much different experience with 139's albeit they were some sort of Winchester "premiums" back in the day. They grouped in a "golf ball" and a 75yd shoulder shot turned into a pathetic shit show (the brush was heavy, it was near dark; I was pretty deep in the woods and should've held for lungs--she didn't get far after darting in the brush with her right front leg spinning like a pinwheel: Luckily there was ample blood in the laurel--somehow she was able to stand once more and run 10yds. The ordeal ended at point blank with a flashlight--I promise to this day I wish I hadn't pulled the trigger: Getting the carcass out and up damn near made me quit hunting).

Anyways; Girl Girl easily groups in a "nickel" @100 with my current lot# Fusion 150's. I'm toying with the idea of changing scopes and years of PBZ. Tooling about on the internet I found this company used to supply the Secret Service with 7Rem--thoughts?:

If standard twist is 1:9.5 I’d say lighter than 170, I have a 1.925 that shoots 162s awesome. I got a few 168s and 175s from a buddy. It shot 168s pretty good shot some 175s and even though it seemed to stabilize I couldn’t get the accuracy and honestly when The 162s started shooting .2-.3 groups I kinda lost any drive to buy anything else. I have found accuracy nodes at 2900 and my current load of 3150, pushing them a little hard with re22. My savage and ruger were a 1:9.5 and really liked 140 and 139s.

120 TSX/TTSX, 150 TTSX, 160 Nosler Partition, 162 A-Max, and 175 Hornady Interlock. I've had very similar excellent accuracy with these from multiple 7Rem/7WSM. Winchester, Remington, Kimber, and Ruger. IMR 4350, R-22, R-25, Ramshot Hunter, IMR 7828SSC.

in a standard 1-9 or 1-9.25 i think lighter than 170 also.
i think some could shoot heavier and get good groups on paper but punching tight groups on paper is a lot different than terminal performance on an animal. I personally shoot the 175 bergers but i have a bartlein barrel twisted to 1-8.5. if i shot factory barrel i would certainly go to the 168 VLD.

if you are planning to shoot heavy for caliber bullets i personally would also scrap H1000 and jump to Vit N570. youll get better velocity using that as it is even slower burning powder than H1000

To be fair, thats a 26" barrel and a bit over book max (depending on your source), but yeah, she's a laser with some thump.

I found just under hornady book max to be a good starting point with the 7mm rem mag on most bullet weights

my gun shot very well with H1000 as well.
Not knocking H1000
But the accuracy both are under 1/2MOA to be fair but accuracy and velocity are both better with Vit and that goes with my 308 as well the gold standard is varget I ran it along side N140 and that achieved better velocity as well. Lots guys are scared to use Vit as the load data lacking in some instances

When a gun is a shooter it’s a shooter and if you find the that accuracy node you can likely get a lot of powder to work if you find that sweet spot if a barrel. So many guys my friends included pigeon hole themselves to Hogdon products…… I personally would choose Vit every day or the week over Hogdon

I always went hodgdon/imr or Alliant because it seemed like they were just easier to find in stores locally along with hodgdon online load data at the time. Now that I’ve got loads figured out along with some powder stockpiled im to lazy and cheap to start experimenting and changing again. I also like to try to load the same powder in multiple calibers if I can get good enough results.
