“Any car built and well maintained since 2000 ASSUMING AN ATTENTIVE DRIVER and reasonably attentive traffic, could safely travel ND’s I-29/94 well over 100MPH safely.”

You sir are an idiot. I used to design highways…there is a LOT more involved. Also, Montana designed most of their interstate to 65mph due to terrain…

The odds are so astronomical of survival wearing a seat belt vs not it’s not even an argument a sane person who can understand numbers could even have. But I guess Darwin has to win some times.

Now if your talking driving on a frozen lake you have a strong argument vs not wearing one.

I don’t know a single person who has been pulled over for not wearing a seat belt as it’s not a stoppable offense here only get a ticket if pulled over for something else. A while 25 dollars.

Primary offense in north dakota and secondary in south Dakota is the difference and why I know plenty of ppl cited for it.

I simply don't wear it out of comfort and wear it when I think it's needed. It's a gamble I'm willing to take when the roads are fine which is 95% of the time.

I fish and swim without a life jacket because I'm a good swimmer but it's there if and when I feel I need or asked for it. Just as I don't wear a helmet on the quad or wear a bulletproof vest while hunting. Life's a gamble, live it how ya want but seat belt regulations go far overboard IMHO. I like to be in control of my fate how I see fit.

You don’t have to wear your seat belt just like you don’t have to follow the speed limit. You’re still free to choose. We have had a seat belt law here for more years than I can remember I haven’t felt any less free.
Yeah there’s no real reason people dislike seatbelts other than “it restricts my freedom”

You’re a great swimmer until that one unlucky wave that throws you off

They designed the interstate for 65 mph decades ago when cars were not nearly as safe or capable as they are now. Now 80 is completely reasonable. if it wasn’t for other idiots on the road 120 mph across North Dakota’s interstates would be Completely reasonable.

Don’t forget to mention the women putting makeup on in the morning and driving 10 to 15 mph over the limit because they didn’t get out of bed or time.

Still can wear it in transit, always on a jet ski.. I just play the odds based on conditions is all, not arguing overall statistics. You do you, ill do me kinda thing is all.
I don’t want there to be laws requiring people to wear life jackets, or helmets, or seatbelts. I just wish people would pick the safer choice without being forced.

My little diesel motorhome purrs along nicely at 70mph so there I'll stay. Hopefully in the right lane. In 40 years of law enforcement, I have cut very few dead people out of a seatbelt. I've sure picked up a lot after they went thru a window.

Hate to correct you but ND has a Primary Seat Belt Law!

North Dakota has a primary seat belt law. This means law enforcement officers can stop a vehicle and issue a citation for a seat belt violation, even if no other traffic offense has occurred according to the North Dakota State Government (.gov). The law applies to all occupants in the vehicle, regardless of age, and requires them to be properly buckled up, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT).

They're gonna raise the interstate speed limit to 80, and lower it to 70 in busy spots. Anyone against it?
Well seeing how there's been what, 3 fatalities near or in minot the past week? We don't need faster speed limits. That just means the speeders will go 90 instead of 80 when it was 70.

Yeah I don’t mind if people are going slow if they’re in the right lane, I actually prefer that the big vehicles go slower so I can pass them quicker

I don’t remember anywhere on the interstate in North Dakota being 70 I’ve only seen 55, 65, 75, and soon 80. Are you talking about one of the smaller 4 lane highways?
