440 weaver scope

Have a 1939 model 70 win in 22 k hornet with 440 weaver scope.
scope came with crosshairs or post. This one has dots, custom made.
Bottom wire is broken. Did post for help on fb but no luck. Weaver said no and a couple of repair shops said no. Need help to fix. Db

No help to you sorry but you jogged a memory. Friend's uncle back in the Hills disassembled a scope and replaced the crosshairs with his wife's hair. Scope was mounted on a nice target rifle, don't remember the cal other than it was centerfire. It may have been a 6.5 Swede. He used it for silhouette. Cool as hell. I'm sure it didn't see any adverse weather.

There may be a guy in Ohio that does this kinda work give me a few days I will do some digging

There used to be a place in El Paso that rebuilt Weaver and other scopes. They did a couple for a buddy of mine and did a great job.

I believe 24 gave you your huckleberry. My remaining link may be worth investigation. I deleted the second link after further reading. They don't work on Weaver.

El Paso said they no longer have parts for that old of scope and a co called iron sites said no..
l and k told me for 195 dollars they would put cross hairs. Wii pay that if dots but the scope might have been a good scope in its day but that was in its day. So would get a new scope if I start paying over 200 dollars. Thanks but hopefully one of you find one that will fix the dots.

Will find out on Monday. She needed to do some research first but at this point she is confident she can fix it with the dots. Hopefully under 200 as other than a memory would be hard to spend that much monies on that old of scope. Db

Today called and stated she felt she could fix for 145 dollars with dots. Goes into mail tomorrow. Hopefully and yes it is questionable maybe to spend but no matter. Thanks again. Db

Goes slow but am find with that. Stated the inside had rust and wires all were broken. But she would fix with dots for 140. Call to get an ideal about size of dots and how they were in scope. Asked on power. Told here four power and make dots so they do cover gopher up at 100 yards. Said give some time will send and if ok send check. Thanks again svn. Db
