Weber charcoal grill for this guy. Had a knockoff and the legs rusted off in two years. Lesson learned.

I picked up a genesis silver last year for 75$ at a auction. Put a new set of burners in it in it works like new. It's a nice grill but I'm still not a fan of it. I much prefer charcoal.

My 37 year old Weber charcoal still works good.

I have a gas one also. Friends of mine that grill a couple hundred times a year swear by them.

Yes, I use mine year around. I have an all stainless model with a double lines hood, stays plenty warm in the winter months. I also have a weber Q for camping/fishing/icefishing or whenever my wife just wants hotdogs.

They are worth every penny. How many weber's do we see on the streets during clean up weeks compared to other brands?

I should also add that I have the old weber kettle charcoal as well. Bought it at a garage sale for $20 bucks.

My first Weber Silver Genesis lasted around 20 years left outside for 6 years in Hawaii, 4 years in Okinawa Japan with all of the salt air and another ten in conus before I retired it to my Florida house where it sits today and still gets to 500+ degrees, I had to make new legs for it but it's still going. I bought another one for my house here in ND and it lives inside so it's probably the last grill I'll ever buy. They're worth every penny.

I agree with the others. Well worth the money. Don't know it will always be this way but as mentioned they are easy to overhaul. Grates from a grill 20 years ago are still the same size as are the burners and other parts. Today's parts fit in grills of old. One reason they are so easy to overhaul, parts are easy to find and install. Well built and durable.

On the other hand the Traeger-type grills also have their purpose and are not the same as the gas-type grills so those two cannot be compared. Gas vs gas, the Weber is hard to beat.

It seems to me like weber's just don't flare up like all the cheaper grills. That's my biggest complaint with my kenmore. They definitely last forever and cook pretty darn even.

Webers are worth the money in my opinion. My parents have had theirs for 16 years, once their porcelain grates were rusted through Weber sent them new ones now questions asked. I have had mine for 7 years now with no issues and I love it! I smoke on it with a smoke tube, and also use me smoker for other things. I dont think you can go wrong if you can afford them. Below is their standard warranty. I do think they have changed this over the years as i think the hood used to be 25 years and burners 10, but its still good

Add a smoker box. They're about $90 and fit flush with the grill grates. Depending on what you're cooking you drop in a few or a bunch of your favorite smoking chips, maybe give an extra 3-5min during warmup to get the smoke rolling good and cook things how you normally would.

It's still not the flavor you get from charcoal or lump but it's certainly a nice addition.

Charcoal vs gas is another debate itself. You never hear anyone say they prefer the flavor of gas to charcoal... As long as it's Weber, you're good.

Ever since adding a weed burner torch to my deck to speed up the coal warm up, I have found I use my gasser less and less.

Royal Oak lump is not bad. Think they actually make the stuff for BGE, and then charge 4 times as much.. Walmart and others carry it. Walmart had the bigger bags on clearance for $7 not too long ago, bought 7 of them. Should have bought more.

I too have a decades-old Weber Silver. Last year I replaced the cooking grates with stainless steel grates from BBQfun via Amazon. They fit perfectly (measurement required) and cost 1/3 Weber's price.

I used to use the cowboy brand, but can't find it in bismarck anymore. Now I use the big green egg brand of lump charcoal, and mix it 50/50 with kingsford original briquettes.
