Is fall for gold prospecting stream water level are low,making it more rewarding finding color after a strong spring snow melt run off,i usually pack my short 3wt fly rod hiking these streams,every once in a while one will stumble across a small pool with active trout slurping a fresh hatch of?,fish a little pan alot with hopes of large nuggets.

It's addictive...I started prospecting in Alaska ,moved there in 1978,worked and alot of prospecting gold was $425/oz back then, we found gold not alot just enough to keep busting ass.we had a 4" dredge to mine streams in McKinley park.

Colorado offers recreational weekend miners easy access to productive area's however one needs to keep in mind active gold claims, these guyz get overly protective of their claims,dont like strangers.
